Elementary School

Our Elementary School is unique because our Junior-Kindergarten through Sixth grade provides a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning that will prepare them for their future Jr. High experience. We provide a:
Christ-centered | Caring | Nurturing
environment for children to grow and develop into young men and women of God. At CVCS we have a diversified group of Christian teachers and classroom aides who work closely with your children assisting them to develop their fullest potential. CVCS provides a professionally staffed, on-campus learning center, known as Learning Rx.  CVCS provide cognitive skills assessment and programs that target the specific cognitive needs of children. In addition to instruction in language arts, math, social studies, science and physical education, children have daily Bible instruction and weekly chapels. Art, keyboarding, library, and computer instruction in addition to various field trips throughout the year are an integral part of the elementary education at CVCS. This year, CVCS begins a home school co-op program for those interested a homeschooling option.

Elementary Trips

CVCS Elementary School student activities vary per grade level. Our faculty plans several field trips and class events which enhance learning and help build strong bonds between students. The following are some of the highlights:
Sacramento Trip
The 4th grade students travel to our state’s capital to see how our government is run and to learn about the early history of California by visiting important historical sites such as Sutter’s Fort.
Science Camp
Our 6th grade students spend a week in the woods, away from the classroom and away from Mom and Dad. While enjoying hikes and flying through the air on the zip line, the students get to explore science first-hand and have a great time getting to know each other in a fun setting.

M.I.N.D. Institute Piano Lab

Partnered with the M.I.N.D. Math Computer Lab, our state of the art music classroom holds twenty-five electronic keyboards that each class uses at set times during the week. Each class comes twice a week for thirty minutes and is taught to play the piano not by ear, but by learning to read music as a mathematical chart that gives both spatial and temporal training. Through games and fun songs, the K-5 students learn to enjoy music as they unknowingly open their neural development to create better students. For more detailed information:

The Spalding Method®

CVCS uses the Spalding Method for literacy instruction- The Spalding Method is a total language arts approach because it provides explicit, sequential, multisensory instruction in spelling (including phonics and handwriting), writing, and listening/reading comprehension. Spalding is a diagnostic method. That means assessment for learning is continuous so that instruction can be tailored to meet each child's individual needs. Spalding is not a lock-step one-size-fits-all approach.

Uniform Guidelines

2011 - 2012 Dress Code Policy - All Schools
CVCS believes that a designated student wardrobe is a positive way to emphasize membership and group identity, fostering a community spirit. Uniforms allow students to be recognized for who they are rather than what they wear, and help to promote school unity.  Student apparel reflects the conduct, attitudes and the quality of the school. This helps students to realize that a person’s unique gifts and personality traits go deeper than their apparel and aren’t diminished by uniform dress. At CVCS, JK-12th Grade students are required to wear uniforms.
