Welcome to the CVCS English Language Development Department (ELD)!

Congratulations on your pursuit in learning English as a Second Language, or, for many of you, as a third or fourth language. According to one almanac, English is spoken by over 470 million people across the globe, and it is the official language of over 45 countries. In many countries, knowing how to speak and write English increases your chances of getting a higher-paying job. Whether it is for these reasons or others, your desire to study the English language is a worthwhile one. Our program is unique in the following ways:

»

All ELD students are matriculated immediately and enroll in regular high school courses along with English language classes.

»
Current U.S. immigration regulations allow students who study at a private high school to remain longer in the United States than at a public high school. Thus, a student can potentially complete all four years of high school study at our school and receive an American high school diploma.

»
Courses are taught by highly qualified teachers. Minimally, teachers possess a master's degree in the field of English or TESL.
»
Students have access to a wide variety of sports, music, and art programs available at our school.
»
Our location alone makes for a unique experience. We are less than two miles from the Pacific Ocean, and our city has one of the best climates in the world.
»
Homestay programs are available.
»
The average CVCS student tests two years ahead of the national average.
»
CVCS is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant students.
»
Students can enter the school year at any time. Our school year runs from early September to mid-June.
»
TOEFL preparation courses are offered for students who plan on continuing their education in the American university system. This course is offered at no additional fee to our ELD students.

With all these benefits, combined with the safe, nurturing environment of a Christian school, we invite you to become a part of Capistrano Valley Christian High School's ELD Department! For more information, please contact Kim Raynesford.

Applications to Capistrano Valley Christian Schools are considered in the order that they are received. For those candidates applying for early admissions (GPA 3.5 or above) we suggest starting the application process early to ensure full consideration. Open enrollment for regular admissions begins March 1, 2007.

To begin the admissions process, please complete the Application Packet and submit completed forms and the application fee to the Admissions office as soon as possible. Since there are a limited number of interview spaces available, the Admission committee closes admissions when necessary and allocates appointments in the order that applications were received.

After the completed application has been received, the Admissions Department will schedule an appointment for entrance testing (if required). After testing has been completed, the Admission Department will then contact you to schedule a family interview with one of our administrators. Prior to acceptance, the completed application, entrance test, and interview must be complete. The administrator determines acceptance and placement.

Directly after the family admission interview, you will be told if your child has been accepted. Your financial commitment, which consists of the registration and family entrance fee are due, this will secure the applicant's placement. Both fees are non-refundable.

Parents of the applicants are welcome to call the Admissions Department with questions to assist them with their admissions process at any time. (949) 493-5683 x109.
