HEAD COACH GEORGE GAY

Capistrano Valley Christian Schools’ Athletic Director Chris Fore is proud to announce that the new Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach is George Gay.  George brings a wealth of knowledge to the athletic department having coached four different sports over the span of the past thirty years at the collegiate, high school and junior high levels.   His specialty is volleyball where he has coached the last twenty four years and has enjoyed great success at both the regional and national levels with the volleyball club that he founded, Mission Viejo Volleyball Club.  George has been a Christian school principal for twenty eight years.  He has over ten years of athletic director experience.

“I am very excited about the new direction of our Girls’ Volleyball program with this hire of Coach Gay.  The experience that he brings to our program is second to none!  George has a long history of volleyball success in South Orange County, where success is hard to come by.  He knows the game extremely well, has a passion for developing young ladies into young women and is a strong Christian man with a great tradition in Christian education.  We are lucky to have George Gay as a part of our coaching staff here at CVCS.  Volleyball is the most popular girl’s sport here; with the addition of George, it will fast become one of the most successful sports on our campus.”

Gay’s coaching tenure started at Saddleback College where he coached baseball for three years before moving to Tustin High School where he coached basketball and track.  George started coaching volleyball in 1985 while at Mission Hills Christian School where he spent twelve years as a teacher, athletic director, and principal.  He then was the founding principal at Mission Viejo Christian School where he spent thirteen years.  George started the Mission Viejo Volleyball Club in 2003.  This popular club has grown from one team to eight over five short years.  He has produced numerous college players from this club.  His eighteen and under club reached the Regional Championships, fifteen and under have reached the National Semi Finals, fourteen and under have reached the National Finals, and twelve/thirteen and under the Regional Finals.  Coach Gay has ten junior high Tri Way League Championships on his resume!

“CIF Girl's Volleyball is extremely competitive.  My goal is to bring Capistrano Valley Christian to the place where we can compete with anyone in our Division.  I am excited to work and develop such quality girls in this program,” George said.

George has been married to Edie for 32 years, (HS sweethearts) have raised 4 wonderful daughters, Emily 28, Natalie 24, Valerie 24, and Stefanie  20 (Stefanie is on a full-ride scholarship at Cal-state LA) and have 5 awesome grandchildren  Jessica 14, Mikey, 12, Shane 10, Isabel 3, and Mason 3.  They have lived in Lake Forest for 23 years and attend Mission Hills Church in Mission Viejo.
