ELEMENTARY EAGLES BOYS BASKETBALL FOR GRADES FIVE AND SIX

WHAT: 5th/6th Grade Basketball - General Information/Requirements
GENERAL INFORMATION
CVCS will have a competitive basketball team for 5th/6th grade boys in the winter of 2007. We will be participating in the Tri-Way League. The CVCS team will be coached by Pastor Corey Melia (senior pastor at Capistrano Valley Church) and assisted by Steve Buccheri (elementary dad) If you have any questions regarding the information below please contact Coach Melia at 949-661-4991 or Clemente Bonilla at 949-493-5683.
Try-Out Dates: Tryouts will Friday November 30th from 3:15 to 4:45 at the CVCS outdoor basketball courts. Coaches Melia, Bonilla, and Buccheri will finalize the team roster by December 1st and will personally notify each player of their status.
Season Practice Schedule: Practices are mandatory and will be every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at CVCS from 3:15 to 4:45 beginning Monday December 3rd. Non-mandatory Saturday practices may be scheduled depending on gym availability.
Game Days: Games begin the week of December 10th. Games will be on Mondays or Wednesdays most weeks, unless there is a rain out or schedule conflict.
Season: Basketball season begins November 30th and will end in mid February.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Attend all practices and games. Unless a child is ill they are required to be at all practices and games. Failure to attend a practice or game, or leaving early may result in sitting out the next game.
Be on time. Students are always required to be on time. Being tardy to a game or practice may result in not starting the next game.
Proper Gear. All players are required to wear a basketball shoes, school athletic shorts, and game jersey. Without all proper equipment students will not be allowed to play.
Attitude and conduct must reflect our Lord and Savior. Coaches will determine appropriate consequences for attitudes and conduct that does meet CVCS expectations.
Sportsmanship – All students must show proper respect to coaches, fellow team members, officials and opponents at all times. Coaches will determine appropriate consequences if necessary.
PARENT EXPECTATIONS
Each team member family will be required to:
Provide snacks and Gatorade at least once during the season for half-time and after game nutrition.
Pay a Sports fee of $125 to CVCS prior to student participation in any practice or game and submit all required paperwork.
Provide your child with all necessary equipment for the season and water for each practice.
Be willing to volunteer to carpool students to and from games if possible.
Be aware that our team will only have 15 players on the roster so your child is not guaranteed a place on the team. Team roster will be determined during tryouts.
