Athletics

The mission of the elementary/junior high athletic program at CVCS is for students and parents to be part of an athletic competition that is centered around a positive and fun, yet competitive environment. The athletic program continues to strive for a product that is first and foremost God-centered, but also one the will honor the commitment of each student, parent, coach and faculty member.

Tryouts
Each sport will have only one team representing the school. Tryouts are held for each sport and cuts are made, if necessary. Each coach is asked to make the cut to the number of available uniforms. It is not unusual to place players on a development squad (those who practice but do not suit out for all games) in which those interested could still learn and feel part of something positive. Flyers on future tryout dates will be sent home, as each sport gets closer to its start date.

Commitment
Each student is asked to commit to a minimum of three days and possibly as many as four days a week for practices and/or games. The practices are generally two days per week (3:15 p.m.- 4:45 p.m.) and there are usually two (and occasionally, three) games per week. The games are after school with the away games being played at other local private schools in the area.

  • Dates are subject to change.
  • The first games will be approximately four weeks after the initial tryout period.
  • Each season is approximately eight weeks long, with the junior high season culminating with post-season playoffs. The elementary season has no post-season playoffs, except for coed soccer.
