WHO: All CVCS students entering 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade in the fall 2008

GENERAL INFORMATION
CVCS Junior High and Elementary Schools will be participating in the Tri-Way League flag football 2008 season.  The Tri-Way League consists of two divisions.  The upper division is highly competitive and is open to 5th – 8th graders. The lower division is competitive/developmental, and is open to 4th-6th graders. 

UPPER DIVISION

Parent Team Meeting:  There will be a parent informational meeting at 3:15 p.m. on September 2nd at CVCS (prior to the first practice). 

Pre-Season Practice:  Pre-season practice will run for 2 weeks, Tuesday thru Friday beginning on Tuesday September 2nd from 3:15 to 4:45. 

Try-Outs:  Players must try-out for a position on the upper division team.  There will be a 2-day try-out on September 4th & 5th at 3:15p.m.  Any 5th or 6th graders who do not secure a position on the upper division team may opt to play on the lower division team.

Regular Season Practice:  When the season commences, the team will be playing or practicing 3 days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 4:45

Game Season:  The season begins the week of September 15th. Typically, the team will have 2 games each week on Monday and Wednesday.  The top 8 teams will participate in the league playoffs, with the championship game being completed prior to Thanksgiving break.

LOWER DIVISION

Parent Team Meeting:  There will be a parent informational meeting at 3:15 p.m. on September 9th at CVCS (prior to the first practice). 

Pre-Season Practice:  Pre-season practice will run for 3 weeks, Tuesday, Thursday and third day  to be determined from 3:15 to 4:45. 

Try-Outs:   It is the school’s desire to accept all interested players on the lower division team, assuming player/coach ratio remains reasonable and manageable.

Regular Season Practice:  When the season commences, the team will be playing or practicing 3 days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and a third day to be determined from 3:30 to 4:45.

Game Season:  The season begins the week of September 29th. Typically the team will have one game each week on either Tuesday or Thursday.  There are no play-offs in the lower division.  The season will end prior to Thanksgiving break.


STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

  1. Attend all practices and games. Unless a child is ill they are required to be at all practices and games. Failure to attend a practice or game will result in sitting out the next game.
  2. Be on time. Students are always required to be on time. Being tardy to a game or practice will result in not starting the next game.
  3. Proper Gear. All players are required to wear a mouth piece, cleats, school athletic shorts, and game jersey. Without all proper equipment students will not be allowed to play or practice.
  4. Attitude and conduct must reflect our Lord and Savior. Coaches will determine appropriate consequences for attitudes and conduct that does meet CVCS expectations.
  5. Sportsmanship – All students must show proper respect to coaches, fellow team members, officials and parents.

PARENT EXPECTATIONS

  1. Provide snacks and Gatorade at least once during the season for half-time and after game nutrition.
  2. Pay a Sports fee of $175 to CVCS prior to student participation in any practice or game.
  3. Submit all required paperwork, including a current physical release from a physician.
  4. Provide your child with all necessary equipment for the season and water for each practice.
  5. Be willing to volunteer to carpool students to and from games, if possible.
