12/4/06    Drzymkowski, Zampas, Manasse, and Williams Receive All-League Honors

At the Tennis Awards dinner this evening at Sarducci's, it was announced that junior Kristina Drzymkowski, freshman Katina Zampas, junior Chloe Manasse, and sophomore Lauren Williams had been voted All League by the league coaches.  The dinner was a lively affair as players shared memorable moments of this past tennis season.  Coach Sanborn, as well as A.D. Coach Wright, and Chaplain/football coach Chris Fore praised the players for their excellent work in the classroom as well as on the court while offering encouragement for the future.  This season's Most Valuable Player award went to three student-athletes:  freshman Jordan Kimura who had the best record percentage(only 2 losses), freshman Katina Zampas who had the most victories, and junior Kristina Drzymkowski who broke the school record of 107 career wins (set by Rachel Henderson from '01 thru '03). Kristina currently has won 110 matches.  Taking home the Christian Character Award was junior Elizabeth Sherwood, and the Most Improved Player was freshman Audrey Montes.  The excellent memory DVD was produced once again by Eagle tennis alum Jennifer Harris.

11/18/06   Drzymkowski/Zampas Advance To 2nd Round At CIF Sectionals

Advancing further than any Eagles' players ever have, junior Kristina Drzymkowski and freshman Katina Zampas defeated a doubles team from La Quinta H.S. 6-3,6-2 and then faced elimination against a very tough team from Troy H.S.(# 2 in Div.One). Kristina and Katina had qualified for CIF by capturing 2nd place in the Academy League Doubles Championships.

10/23/06  Eagles' CIF Ranking Rises To # 4In the most recent CIF Tennis Poll, CVCS earned its highest ranking in the school's brief tennis history, surpassing the # 5 position that the 2002 tennis team had achieved.

0/17/06 Eagles Defeat Rival Tartans
Playing in front of Eagle A.D., Randy Wright, your Lady Eagles remained undefeated in league play and raised their overall record to 10-1 as they defeated St. Margarets. All 9 starters contributed points in the 76-65 win in game count. (Chloe Manasse, Lauren Williams, Audrey Montes, Debi Filipovich, Jordan Kimura, Katina Zampas, Kristina Drzymkowski, Elizabeth Sherwood, and Tracy Quient).

9/29/06 Eagles Pass Test at Oxford
Today, the Lady Eagles overcame the Patriots 11-7 at the Oxford courts.  The home court advantage of Oxford's dark asphalt courts and the blackened tennis balls did not stop us from a great team win.  Coach Sanborn dressed in a black CVC golf shirt as Jordan Kimura, Katina Zampas, Kristina Drzymkowski, and Lauren Williams all contributed to a singles sweep.  Elizabeth Sherwood, Tracy Quient, Chloe Manasse, and Natalie Calvert came through with two doubles points needed for the victory.

10/10/06 Eagles Swoop Down On Wildcats

With both teams cheering on the sidelines, Tracy Quient and Elizabeth Sherwood won the final set 6-4 in a winner take all, nail-biter situation against the Whitney Wildcats. Jordan Kimura and Katina Zampus swept in singles and Kristina Drzymkowski and Chloe Manasse won two doubles points to set up climactic heroics of Tracy and Elizabeth. Afterwards, Coach Sanborn took the entire squad to a delicious team victory dinner at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney!

9/23/06 Eagles Complete Road Trip With Two Close Wins

Kristina Drzymkowski and Katina Zampas went undefeated in all six of their matches as the Eagles defeated the Cate School Rams on Friday by the game count of 72-69 after the sets were tied 9-9 and on Saturday the Santa Ynez Pirates by tiebreakers as the sets were again tied 9-9 (with the games also tied 71-71) at the Alisal Ranch in Solvang where the team stayed for the weekend bonding together.  Also winning sets were Elizabeth Sherwood, Tracy Quient, Audrey Montes, Joy Lee, Jordan Kimura, and Chloe Manasse as the team improved their record to 4-1.

9/7/06 Eagles Win 13-5 for First Ever Victory in a Season Opener

Katina Zampas, Jordan Kimura, and Kristina Drzymkowski all went undefeated in singles action and Elizabeth Sherwood teamed up with Tracy Quient to capture 2 doubles points as the Lady Eagles opened the season with a solid win vs. the Beckman High Patriots of Irvine.  Even in the 2001 league championship season (14-1 in regular season), the lone loss came in the first match that year.  Also contributing a point against Beckman were Chloe Manasse, Natalie Calvert, Lauren Williams, and Audrey Montes.  The Eagles next match is against another Div. 1 opponent, Mater Dei on Sept. 14.  MD is ranked in the Register's Top Ten.
