10/30/07 Eagles Upset 3rd Place Oxford 10-8
Audrey Montes and partner Mary Stoecker rallied to win 7-5 in a nail-biting finish at the Saddleback College courts. Just a few minutes earlier, Chloe Manasse and partner Capri Ruiz completed a doubles sweep by coming back from an 0-4 deficit to win 6-4, denying the Patriots the 10th set, keeping the Eagles chances of an upset alive, and setting the stage for the final winner-take-all improbable heroics by Montes and Stoecker. Earlier in singles action, Katina Zampas and Kristina Drzymkowski each won 3 points for the Eagles. The match was played after more than a week off due to the bad air from the wildfires.
10/27/07 Sherwood Crowned Homecoming Queen, Continues Tradition
|
 |
For the 3rd year in a row, a girls tennis team member (Elizabeth Sherwood) is so honored. Queen Elizabeth continues the streak which began with Queen Ji Won Park and, last season, Queen Joy Lee. So it seems it might not be such a bad idea to play a few years for the Lady Eagles' tennis team. |
10/19/07 Zampas' Close Match Against BC's #1 Secures Eagles Victory
Although sophomore Katina Zampas' 5-7 loss to Brethren Christian's Kelsey Costales(top 100 in USTA rankings) ended her tremendous consecutive win streak at 24 straight, the 5 games were crucial to the Eagles victory as the two schools battled to a 9-9 tie in sets but CVCS won the match by just one game 68-67. The Eagles were playing with only seven players, and therefore began the match behind by 3 sets(or 18 games). A calculated gamble by the Eagles paid off. Anticipating a lineup shuffle by BC, Chloe Manasse was moved to singles and responded with two wins. Kristina Drzymkowski and Katina Zampas each won two in singles as well. Audrey Montes teamed up with Mary Stoecker to capture two sets, and the team of Elizabeth Sherwood / Taylor LaFrance won the final set. Zampas' win streak over the last three weeks sets a new school record.
10/8/07 Eagles Defeat Calvary Chapel(S.A.)

9/26/07 Drzymkowski Rallies To Win Tiebreaker Vs. Woodbridge

9/22/07 Zampas Sails Past Pirates in Loss to #8 Ranked Santa Ynez
Katina Zampas dominated as she won her three sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-0
while Kristina Drzymkowski continued her winning ways but the Pirates
depth was too great to overcome as the Eagles lost 6-12. The match
was played near Santa Ynez at the beautiful Alisal Ranch where the
Lady Eagles bonded for the weekend. Coach Sanborn's Sunday morning
Bible "perspective" was especially challenging and thought provoking.
All came home tired, but "winners".
