Titles: High School English Teacher

Jill Ross has been a Christian high school English teacher for over 20 years. She attended Sonoma State University, received her degree and credential, and more importantly became a follower of Jesus. She taught for 5 years at a Christian school in Northern California before travelling to beautiful Monterey, CA. That teaching position lasted for 13 years where she not only taught English and AP courses but also created curriculum, trained new teachers, and watched many students come to faith in Christ (often seeing them baptized in the Monterey Bay just steps from the school’s site). During that time, she also received an Outstanding Teacher Award from the Monterey Rotary Club.

Accepting an English teaching position at CVCS in 2016 was an exciting answer to prayer and brought her back home to warm Southern California. She loves teaching at CVCS because the entire community is infused with joy and a love for Christ. For Jill, the best thing about teaching is the ability to join together her two passions: literature and Christ, especially in applying Christian worldview to the material. One of her highlights of teaching is seeing the students grow in their ability to critically think and form their own opinions. She tries to fill her class with creative activities and much laughter and fun as well as dynamic and thought-provoking discussions.

Jill and her husband are active at their church in Tustin and enjoy riding their beach cruisers around the local area and at the beach. Jill also loves to read and spend time with family and friends.
