Dr. Terry Gaunt
Dr. Terry Gaunt is a native Southern Californian born and raised in the Northern Mojave Desert town of Ridgecrest. He found his way to Orange County after high school to attend Southern California College which is now Vanguard University to major in P.E.. His upbringing included playing baseball day and night since he was seven and most likely landed him to be able to play four years of college baseball and was part of a College Baseball World Series Team in 1985. Praying to become a high school teacher in a Christian environment during this time, he began his student teaching at a high school in Santa Ana where he met his wife Dana.
Shortly thereafter in the fall of 1987, Dr. Gaunt began his first of now 34 consecutive years at CVCS. Dr. Gaunt began his career teaching science, P.E. and geography. While continuing his classroom teaching in many different areas of science, he has also served as the Varsity Baseball Coach for 15 years, High School Athletic Director for seven years, and High School/Junior High Principal for 14+ years. During this time, he was the league president for three years and in 2008, he received the CIF “Champion for Character” Award. Dr. Gaunt has also led and taken many CVCS students, staff, and parents on 10 different missions trips to Russia since 2001.
Terry is passionate about his students' education, spiritual growth, and their overall well being as citizens. He does whatever it takes to work with students so they understand that they are important. “People before tasks” always. Dr. Gaunt begins each class period with a five to seven minute Bible devotion for his students. Though school subject areas are very important, student spiritual growth is more important. Students must hear the gospel message every day.
Dr. Gaunt and his wife of 34 years have been attending Saddleback Church since 1989 and love to travel any chance they get. They have been to more countries than states, but they travel the states as well.
