Kristan Rutz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Westmont College and her Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in schools from Oregon State University. She also served in Young Life ministry with her husband for several years providing opportunities to share the gospel and led many young people to Jesus Christ. Mrs. Rutz worked as a school counselor for five years before making the decision to stay home with her young children.
In 2011, she took a job working for Claris Health where she taught parenting classes, offered counseling to low-income women, and mentored high school students about making healthy relationship and sexual choices.
In 2016, Kristan was hired as an academic counselor at CVCS. She loves working with junior high and high school students, building relationships with them, and helping them move towards their college aspirations.
Kristan lives in San Juan Capistrano with her husband Chris. Together they have two college-age daughters, Keara and Noelle, who attend Florida State University and Point Loma Nazarene University respectively. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, going to the beach with her family, and watching her daughters play volleyball.
