Krista Mahlstadt, an alumna of Capistrano Valley Christian Schools, where she spent her elementary through high school years participating in everything from ASB to softball as well as being the school mascot! Krista gets so much joy from seeing the full circle effects of being a student, staff member and now a parent of a CVCS student! Staying near the beaches of sunny southern California lead Mrs. Mahlstadt to Concordia University, Irvine to pursue her passion for teaching concentrating in early childhood development. From the time Krista was in second grade she knew her love for children and teaching would lead her to educating in some sort of classroom setting. Krista loves watching how the Lord is beyond creative in the way He designs each mind to work differently, this is where Krista loves meeting her students’ needs exactly where they are at differentiating to their individualized style of learning.
Krista’s teaching career started in the heart of Washington DC where she worked as a lead preschool teacher in Georgetown. Although she loved the change of scenery and pace of life that Georgetown had to bring she was anxious to get back to her roots in Southern California. She went from DC to Dana Point where she began leading a Transitional Kindergarten classroom for four years. The Lord opened the opportunity for Krista to then land back at CVCS where it all began for her in the fifth grade! Here at CVCS Krista has taught Junior Kindergarten as well as Kindergarten. Krista and her co-teacher Kamden Guy were passionate about creating a Kindergarten program that is cutting edge and prepares 21st century learners while having FUN which is how Kindergarten GROW was born!
Krista is passionate about creating a classroom that cultivates an environment that develops a love for learning and a fire for Jesus. It is her ultimate desire and goal to point every lesson back to Jesus in hopes that her students would see the fingerprints of the creator of the universe woven through every single subject matter.
Krista and her husband Luke, and daughter Lily are active members at their church, in San Juan Capistrano. When Krista isn’t watching her daughter play soccer or surf she is in the water herself trying to hang ten! She is a Mexican food connoisseur and loves organizing and decorating her free time.
