Mr. Montes De Oca graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a minor in Sociology. The focus of his coursework was in rhetoric, argumentation, and debate. After graduation, he earned his teaching credential in English and taught in the Florida public school system before moving to California in the fall of 2017. He joined the CVCS high school English team in 2021.

Having a strong passion for discipleship, Mr. Montes serves in the high school and young adult ministries at his church and has been on over 15 mission trips. His hope is to see his students be secure in their identity and grow deeply in their relationship with Christ. He believes that his objective as an educator is to not only teach content material but to also build character in the lives of his students. One of his favorite quotes concerning education hails from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education."

Mr. Montes was born and raised in South Florida and enjoys hiking, slacklining, and going to the beach. In addition to enjoying our beautiful California weather, he also writes and performs spoken word poetry. He is very excited to be part of the CVCS community!
