Mrs. Sarah Ortega
Sra. Sarah Ortega joined the CVCS team in fall of 2023 after working in education for the past 10 years. An Orange County native from Santa Ana, she fell in love with the Spanish language from the culture around her and studied formally in high school and college. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Psychology from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain during her junior year, where she discovered her love for teaching after volunteering with elementary and high school Spanish classes.
After spending a year in Boston working as a teacher's aide for struggling high school students through the AmeriCorps program, Sra. Ortega returned to Orange County and earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Vanguard University in 2017 and a Spanish Teaching Authorization shortly thereafter. She completed her Master of Arts in Education from Vanguard University in 2023. Sra. Ortega enjoys being a change-maker by opening students' minds to learning new things, especially language and culture. She hopes to bring the joy of the Lord to her elementary Spanish students through song, Spanish scripture memory verses, hands-on learning, games, and building Spanish-speaking confidence.
She and her husband were married in 2021 and live locally in San Juan Capistrano with their pet cat April. She enjoys bike riding to Doheny State Beach, road trips, and traveling to Mexico City. She and her husband have been on several mission trips to Tijuana, Mexico, and enjoy serving and attending Union Church in San Clemente.
