Academic Counseling

CVCS offers students a robust and deeply personal academic counseling process beginning in ninth grade, preparing them to get into the college of their dreams. College counseling is centered on individual relationships with students and a partnership with each family to provide professional guidance and insight on the college search and application process.

EXPLORE

Freshman and Sophomore Years

  • Academic and college planning meeting
  • Introduction to Naviance college preparation software
  • Develop a four-year course plan
  • Freshman/sophomore college night for parents
  • Meet with college representatives on campus
  • Multiple college campus field trips
  • Take the Practice ACT and/or PSAT at CVCS
  • Test results analysis with college counselor

EVALUATE

Junior Year

  • Academic and college planning meeting
  • Naviance self and career assessments with a counselor
  • Build college interest list
  • Test results analysis with a college counselor
  • Meet with college representatives on campus
  • Multiple college campus field trips
  • SAT prep options on/off-campus or online
  • Individual family meeting in winter/spring with the college counselor
  • Application essay practice and feedback

EXPERIENCE

Senior Year

  • Academic and college planning meeting

  • Guided development of letters of recommendation for applications and scholarships
