RISE—Resource Implementation Success Education
"But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will rise high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30
The RISE program at CVCS supports students with learning challenges, such as dyslexia, auditory and visual processing issues, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and executive functioning deficits. This program serves students with current IEPs or 504 plans. RISE teachers collaborate with general education teachers to implement necessary accommodations, creating a welcoming and calm environment where students feel safe to take risks and perform their best work. A key goal of the RISE program is to help students become self-advocates, understand their challenges, and learn to communicate their needs effectively. Many RISE students go on to attend four-year universities and excel academically.
Elementary Services
Elementary students will meet with the RISE teacher a minimum of twice a week for 30-minutes (usually during Spanish class time). Students will also receive support in the RISE classroom for test support, help with writing assignments, reading comprehension, executive functioning, as per specified in the child's 504/IEP. RISE teachers work in conjunction with the general education teacher to support the student's individual educational needs.
Junior High and High School Services
Junior high and high school students will have a RISE class built into their block schedule as one of their electives, meeting three times per week in the RISE classroom. During that class time, students may receive support in the RISE classroom for test support, help with writing assignments, reading comprehension, executive functioning, as per specified in the child's 504/IEP. RISE teachers work in conjunction with the general education teachers to support the student's individual educational needs. One of the major goals for these students is to teach them to advocate for themselves to help them in college and beyond.
